Will Lyric work as well with a Baritone as with a regular guitar considering the lower frequencies of the Baritone? I'm thinking built in equalization may be designed specifically for regular guitars.

Thanks

Hey Mike,
The eq isn't really designed around a regular acoustic. It's more designed to dial-in presence frequencies to match different instruments.

What is your Baritone tuned to?

I'm planning to buy a Walden Baritone in the next couple of months. I'm using an Anthem on my regular size Morgan and like it. I'm looking forward to the Lyric to eliminate any UST artifacts.

Could you expand on your frequencies comments? Thanks.

I can't go into too much detail because the Lyric is a very proprietary system. The presence control adjusts the high frequencies of the mic, specifically to match the natural tone of each instrument. Some guitars are bright and others, dark, so that control allows you to accurately set the Lyric for the amount of "presence" that you want in your amplified signal.

As far as the bass response of the Lyric, I played a McPherson guitar tuned down to B, and it sounded great. Lower tunings are very mellow sounding, so the Lyric's attack response is very natural and smooth. However, because of the extra low frequencies, I had to use a notch filter to cut out low frequency feedback when I started playing a little louder.

All in all, I was very pleased with the Lyric's performance with a lower tuning.

Thank you. Sounds like I'll have no issues. If I need to notch filter the low frequencies, I presume my Baggs Para DI will do the trick.

Yeah, both the Para DI and the Venue DI have notch filters. However, the Venue's Notch is more transparent and effects the tone less.
