This innovative and reliable undersaddle
pickup is less than 1/32" thick and contains a film
sensor laminated between layers of Kapton and then laser-trimmed
to its final form.
The key feature that separates the RT from other pickups
is that its sensor is responsive to vibration but not to
pressure. This minimizes that unpleasant, dry, stringy sound
that is characteristic of pressure-sensitive undersaddle
pickups. As the guitar top moves with the vibrations of
the strings, so does the RT sensor, naturally reflecting
the actual sound and dynamics of your guitar.
The patented RT is manufactured to ISO 9001 specs and is
about as high-tech as it gets. The sensor material is ultra-sensitive
28-micron-thin PVDF and boasts a linear frequency response
to 50khz. A special pad is adhered to the bottom of the
pickup to compensate for minor irregularities in the saddle
slot, insuring easy installation with great balance.
The sensor runs the full length of the pickup and will
work with any string spacing with no dead spots or frustrating
balance problems.
The Ribbon Transducer may be plugged directly into many
musical instrument amplifiers, effects and outboard preamps.
If used passively, the RT must be plugged into a high-impedance,
high-gain, high-quality preamp. However, for most users,
we recommend using one of our RT-compatible systems. We
have developed an entire family of onboard and outboard
preamps that interface perfectly with the RT and are guaranteed
to bring out its finest qualities. This family includes
the RT System,
Dual Source
and Double
Barrel.
